Celebrating Community

Whole Child Leon recognizes the work being done in Leon County to make sure all children thrive is a direct reflection of the devoted men, women and organizations leading the charge. Our goal is to honor leadership and innovation making an impact on our young children and their families in Leon County.

There are three award categories:

Whole Child Leon Warriors for Children: an outstanding individual who serves as an advocate for children in Leon County. The nominee may work in or advocate for early childhood, child welfare, education, child health, youth development, mental health or juvenile justice with a demonstrated impact on children and families at the community or individual level. In 2020, this award was shared between two: an individual working at the policy/systems level and an individual working at the grassroots level.

Innovative Collaborative of the Year: a collaborative initiative that intentionally pulls together multiple partners to benefit children and families at the community or individual level.

Family Friendly Employers of the Year: businesses and organizations that provide workplace supports for families with children including, but not limited to maternity and paternity leave, a safe and clean place for breastfeeding moms to pump and/or nurse comfortably, flexible schedules, and affordable family health care. The nominee must have practices in place that support a family-friendly workplace.

The inaugural awards program was held during the 2020 Children’s Week Tallahassee. The nomination cycle for 2021 will be announced soon.
