In January of 2014, Whole Child Leon established the South City Revitalization Council (SCRC), a nonprofit corporation in an effort to eliminate unsafe living spaces and improve the health of South City residents.
The South City Revitalization Council worked to transform South City from an unsafe community to a healthy community by improving the overall quality of life of its residents as well as the environment in which they live. In 2019, the Council transformed into an independent 501(c)3. It mission is to work side-by-side with residents, business and community leaders to revitalize the community by focusing on mixed-income housing, cradle-to-career education, and community wellness. They do this while honoring South City’s history and securing its future.
